Why who what

Why. Why do I need to grow my own food? There are several important reasons why you should grow food. First of all it is fun and fulfilling. Watching the little sprouts reach for the sun and then harvesting and eating what you just grew is rewarding. You know where the food comes from and what it took to grow. Fresh food is healthier for you. You don’t have to run to the store for your food. If you need some parsley just clip a sprig and you have it. You don’t have to worry about shortages. You just plant all you need and store the surplus for later. You plan for what you need and work to make it produce. If there is a storm in the growing area you don’t have to worry. You will plant the safety stock and store the extra. You can also share with family and neighbors. You can teach the next generation grandkids how to be prepared. If the government becomes too intrusive you will always have food. Relying on yourself is always best. No one cares about you as much as you do. Plants give off O2 and absorb CO2. Done properly you keep the soil rich in the means to keep growing produce for generations.

What. What do I grow? At first you need to learn how to grow so you choose easy to grow vegetables and herbs. Lettuce, carrots, onions and potatoes. These are easy to grow in small spaces or containers. You use all of these in your current diet so as a start just supplement what you now use. As you gain confidence and expertise you can expand to beans, corn, spinach, mushrooms and other things you want and or need. You now have a season in expertise and can use raised beds to grow more of everything. You can also when you get confident build a green house and start growing fruits and more vegetables and fruits strawberries, bananas and more exotic plants.

Where. Where can I grow this produce? Depending on you circumstances you can pick an area of your yard or if limited you can pick up containers and start growing in buckets and sacks. Yes sacks. There are specially made sacks for growing potatoes. Herbs can be grown in small flower pots on your window shelfs. If you have a patio with a roof you can hang tomato vines and put a pot for planting a grape vine to climb up and reach for the sun. In your yard you can put up raised beds which keeps the crawling critters out and limits the weeds in the yard from coming into your garden. As you expand you can cover a portion of your yard and make a greenhouse for a longer growing season and more exotic plants.

How. How to plan and build a sustainable garden. The internet has boundless sources of information on the soil and growing conditions in your area. Growing grapes in North Dakota is much harder than in Napa valley of California. So find out what your area can grow and when. If you are doing this just for you and your family then indoors and in a greenhouse is a viable way to go. So after you plan what you want and need you can see what you have in the way of resources and space. If you don’t have some resources or space set out to acquire what you need and how to get it. As stated in where you can use buckets and small raised beds for a lot of what you want to grow. Once you start growing your own supplemental produce you save money to purchase needed supplies. Being inventive you can build a root cellar in a small area. You can construct a greenhouse out of surplus wood and plastic. As you gain expertise and more surplus produce you can barter for additional tools and other resources.

Money. What will we use for transactions when the governments outlaw cash? I just saw an advertisement for crypto currencies. If we grow our own food and barter with close neighbors for resources what do we need from them. They the all-inclusive paranoid them. If we opt out of the larger society there other things we need: safety, water, power, communications and maybe entertainment. If we know something has been done we can try and repeat it again and again. Grow wheat, pump water, and refine oil for energy. Once the genie is out of the bottle we know it can be done so we all become our own islands of society. Yes we need interaction with our family and friends. We need help with many things. And so the world grows and we end up back in the same place we are now. But as Jefferson said the tree of liberty needs to be watered with the blood of patriots and oppressors. We are doomed to try, rinse and repeat. All we can hope for is to keep ourselves clean and ready for the final judgement in front of God. I know not what others choose but for me give me love of God.

What I should have done

When I look back at my life I say I should have done thus and so. If I look forward five years and say I should have done this and that. I am now I can do what I should have done today. Confused? This is just a mind trick to get me into action. Looking out over the current landscape I have many things I would like to do and many things I want to do. If I had not wandered on the beach and instead had done my homework I would have had better grades and been less stressed and not needed the long lonely walks. I could have gone straight to Long Beach State and graduated sooner and joined the Navy as an officer. Little things done properly have large consequences in our lives. So using what I have learned and seen in my life I hopefully have insights as to what I should do today. I know if I do the work to start this blog I will be farther along to building a business and have the capital to help more people and myself. If I project 5 years ahead and then look at what I should have done yesterday it becomes easier to do it today. So the minor temptations are easier to ignore, channel or schedule for appropriate times.  So I have to use the erector set of tools available to build the web site with the e-mail applications. I will then write content. When I have a body of work that generates interest by actually helping people I can then if appropriate recommend products and services. If these are well received I can then recommend my own products.  All the while adding to the content of my blog.  I will never be there because once I stop all the momentum stops.

Cook Book

It’s a cook book! Mine Kompf, The communist Manifesto, The whole earth catalog, these are the blue prints of one world want to be dictators. In an episode of the twilight zone called to serve man aliens come to Earth and tell of a paradise on their planet. A book is left accidentally and the title is decoded as ‘To Serve Man’. As the hero of the story is being loaded on to the rocket ship his aide yells out the contents of the book. ‘It is a cook book.’ The movie ‘Soylent Green’ the food of the masses is ground up people. All of the wonderful writings of utopia throughout history are just plans to subject and eat the common citizens. This is why the American Revolution was and still is such a threat to the so called leaders. Donald Trump showed them for what they were. Unproductive incompetent bullies who could not and cannot compete on a level playing field. Joe Biden is just a prop to put before the people so the real power hungry people don’t have to show themselves and risk being exposed as the less than capable manipulators they are. The end game is being played now and it will hurt many people. If the rulers fight back they will crush the masses and the people will all live a miserable existence. If they are not competent we will have a war and all everyone will live a hand to mouth scrabble life. The scheme has gone a long way but if the people wake up and take back the true creed of the Constitution we can have a mess for a while and survive another few decades before we forget that ii is a Cook Book and relax too soon and end up with our asses cooked again. As the Guess Who said ‘Hope we don’t get fooled again.

Reality

The new equity law being pushed by Democrats is just as silly as the courtiers of King Canute asking that he stop the tide from getting his feet wet. There are natural laws which we have no option but to obey. Telling the sea to stop or as some legislative branches tried to declare the mathematical value of PI as different from the reality are just as pointless as these courtiers. Having someone declare themselves to be a different gender than the DNA of their cells is just as ludicrous. Or declaring a human being in uterus is not a human and therefore has no rights to life is the height of hubris. Realty is not subject to someone’s interpretation of the facts. And reciting facts does not make me a bigot. But anyone declaring themselves above the laws of nature does make them an idiot. In order to have a semi rational discussion there has to be an agreement on simple facts. You then build on known and agreed to facts and expand to areas of less certainty. If someone does not possess the ability to follow agreed upon facts that someone does not deserve the time of the others. To go from the sublime to the ridiculous we have the example of Bugs Bunny arguing with Porky Pig.  Bugs says Porky is an eagle and Porky says he is a pig. In the middle Bugs changes the argument and says Porky is a pig and Porky says he is an eagle. And Porky goes up a tree and tries to fly. He hits the ground and says he is a pig. Soon, sooner than I want the democrats will climb the tree and proclaim that they are eagles jump off and will crash. You can deny reality only so long before it comes back and imposes reality on you.
